The Colonel-in-Chief The Royal Irish Regiment, HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York, visited the 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment at Clive Barracks, Tern Hill, Market Drayton, Shropshire, on 13 March 2018.

ColinChiefOn arrival, he inspected a Quarter Guard, including the Regimental Mascot, Brian Boru X (Conri) before receiving an update on the Battalion's current role. The Colonel-in-Chief was then taken on a tour of Foxhound vehicles where he was shown how Rangers operate and fight from the vehicle. The Duke of York later met officers and Rangers, and their families, at a reception where he presented Long Service and Good Conduct Medals. He also presented various awards and badges of rank to those receiving promotion.

On departure, The Colonel-in-Chief spoke of his pride in the Regiment and thanked all ranks for their service and dedication.
